5 stars
Absolutely crushing memoir by Chanel Miller, the unnamed woman who was sexually assaulted by the All-American white dude Brock Turner. I remember reading her statement on Buzzfeed back during the trial, and being utterly shocked how Turner got off so easy with just 6 months in county jail. Now that I have read this amazingly eloquent, gut-wrenching memoir, I am even more shocked and jubilant that that judge lost his job.
Chanel is a survivor, and does not hide any of the depths of her despair that come from the assault and that are a part of her life forever. She's amazing, I am glad the world gets to know her name now.
