A tense WW II story. The protagonist Marian turns British spy living underground in Paris, with a task to bring an old flame over to Britain to work on the atomic bomb. It's incredibly restrained and for the most part a character study of Marian, not a war thriller. The end surprised me a bit. Captivating read.
