It chronicles a young priest's movement away from his religion and toward the environmentalist teachings of an international lecturer known as "B". The Story of B expands upon many of the philosophical ideas introduced in Quinn's 1992 novel Ishmael, and acts as the spiritual successor to both this book and My Ishmael, also written by Quinn.
