Entertaining YA-adjacent fantasy adventure, enjoyable magic and plot twists at a steady pace, and an earnest girl lead acting thoroughly considerately and boldly.
Brandon Sanderson tries to combine The Princess Bride and Discworld, and manages to pull it off pretty well. It takes a second to get going, but once it's rolling it's hard to put down.
After not reading much at all for the past 2 or even 3 years, this book was such a joy that I hope I can begin reading more again. It was just what I needed to remind me why I read stories. Love it. So wise and funny.
