El pasaje comienza en el futuro cercano y detalles un apocalíptico y, más tarde, mundo post-apocalíptico que es invadido por seres como vampiros que están infectados por un virus altamente contagioso. Lo que comienza como un proyecto para desarrollar un nuevo medicamento aumentan la inmunidad, basado en un virus que lleva eventualmente a una especie sin nombre de murciélago en América del Sur se convierte en el virus que transforma el mundo. La novela comienza en 2018 y abarca más de noventa años en intentan de colonias de seres humanos a vivir en un mundo llenado de criaturas sobrehumanas que están continuamente a la caza de sangre fresca.

Review of 'The Passage' on 'Goodreads'

What a slog of a book this was. It was recommended as a tale in the vein of Stephen King's The Stand, one of my all-time favorites by Mr. King. I expected something similar. A tale of a world falling to a pandemic, and the tales of its survivors. What I got was a highly editable story that ends on a frustrating cliffhanger and makes me not want to continue, because...whatever.

There's absolutely nothing going on in huge parts of the book. The action doesn't really begin until about 250 pages in. Instead, we get pages and pages of exposition to characters that die shortly afterwards without leaving any impact on the story. What's the point?
