That's a book you really have to finish. I hated the first half of it and thought it incompatible with modern psychology and neurological findings. However, the philosophy behind it, which becomes evident in the second half, is worth pushing through for. Quintessentially, it advocates for mindfulness and giving in human relationships instead of taking. A lot of interesting things to take away from, with some things I don't agree with. In short, a mixed bag which I still enjoyed in the end.

3.5 Stars. The first bit needs motivation, but there’s a lot to take away, especially towards the end. I really like the theme (which goes at least back to Nietzsche), that all repeats itself and is necessary as part of life.

Some interesting nitpicks here and there, but mostly very US American-centered. (Well, guess what.) You guys have a very superficial society, wow. I couldn't relate that much (as a metropolitan German) and hope that we don't copy your dating views. Would love to see this book for Germany. Anyway, quite entertaining but rather goofy.
