Holly Hudson reviewed Pluk van de Petteflet
Nice little window into the Dutch national personality

This book is Dutch, and I read it in Dutch, but I'm reviewing it in English because if you're a native Dutch speaker you already read this book, so you don't need a review. If you would like to read it in English you can find it under the title "Tow-Truck Pluck".
This is a great book for Dutch language learners because, being a children's book, it has lots of pictures and uncomplicated vocabulary. The main character is a little boy with an independent and somewhat rebellious streak who is squatting a top floor flat in an apartment block that I believe is meant to evoke the Bijlmer. He has a kid-sized tow truck, and his adventures revolve around helping out the small creatures and small humans around him. This book really has everything: talking animals, pushy neighbors, hippies, werewolves, microdosing, and a healthy disdain for covering a garden in pavers.
