4.5 stars. Not quite as good as the first book of the Checquy Files, but still pretty damn great!
The story continues right where The Rook ended. The Checquy, Great Britain's supernatural government branch are to merge with their arch-enemies, the crazy scientists from Belgium. A delegation of the Grafters has arrived in London for talks, amongst them Odette Leliefeld, a descendant of the leader of the Grafters. Whereas the protagonist of The Rook was Myfanwy Thomas, and her search for finding who wiped her memory was the central plot, Myfanwy is only a side character this time round. I cheered whenever she showed up though, because I love her.
Instead we mostly experience Stiletto from the PoVs of Odette and her Checquy bodyguard, Pawn Felicity. They're both kickass in their own way. The merger is off to a rocky start because inexplicable murders happen, perpetrated by a mysterious group …

The merger is off to a rocky start because inexplicable murders happen, perpetrated by a mysterious group called the Antagonists. They want to make sure the merger never happens. But who are they?
Stiletto is funny, bizarre, sometimes gross and very engaging. Odette in particular experiences some heartbreak which is pretty dark stuff. I still highly recommend this series, and am really hoping there will be a third book eventually.
