When I reviewed Whisper Under Ground, I was complaining that I had hoped for more action regarding the Faceless Man, and how it disappointed me that there was not much of that. Then here comes Broken Homes which pretty much is only about the various machinations of the Faceless Man that Peter and Lesley are investigating. And there are quite a few of those.
My only complaint is probably that the first half of the book moves slow as molasses, and some elements feel a bit unrelated, like the party of the rivers. It probably totally is not unrelated.
The last quarter of the book was very high-paced, full of kickass magic, lots of destruction and really really unexpected twists. In fact, I am still shocked while I type this.
I seriously can't recommend this series enough.
