Kadomi reviewed The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks (Lightbringer series #3)
Review of 'The Broken Eye' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
4 to 4.5 stars. I am still fascinated with the story but how I missed Gavin. He doesn't get a lot of spotlight because of understandable reasons which didn't make me miss him less.
For the majority of the book there's little action, mostly political maneuvering. Andross Guile is a truly vile yet fascinating villain whose agenda I still can't fully understand. This all makes the book feel super slow until things go crazy in the last quarter of the book. I wish action distribution was more spread out.
My highlight were Teia PoV chapters. I love her and wish her the best. I also love Karris. However, Kip, who gets more and more the main protagonist of the series simply doesn't work for me. Unlike Gavin I don't find him charming or even interesting. There's no character growth for me.
