Not quite as awesome as the first book, as is often the case with middle books, it is still quite an entertaining and in parts fascinating read. Directly continuing where the first book stopped, we continue the story of Moon, the former solitary consort Raksura who is now a member of the Indigo Cloud court. Their home destroyed, they move on to their former home, a living mountain-tree. But when they arrive, not all is well, because the tree is dying, as the seed to it has been removed from the tree.

We follow the familiar faces from the first book in their adventures to retrieve the seed from its thieves which takes them to a city traveling through the sea on the back of a leviathan.

Exotic, adventurous, very Jules Verne-vibey. Moon is still a bit emo as a character, but it's getting better, and the Indigo Cloud folks …
