Tsundoku reviewed My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Kabi Nagata
Journeying with your Depression to find Self-Acceptance
Content warning Disordered Eating; Self-Harm
Nagata Kabi is depressed. She* goes through her self-abuse in the first few chapters, it's basically about realizing she deserves to be loved and accepted, so she embarks on a manga career and calls a lesbian escort agency as part of becoming an adult (at 28).
I think most of us can relate on some level. I'm 29, and still don't feel like an adult.
It's a bit of a sad comic (have not read the other 3 in the series), but I think it reinforces the idea that You have to love Yourself before you'll accept love from anyone else.
- I use female pronouns for Nagata Kabi though I have heard some interpretations from some lines in this book that she'd best be described as non-binary. Unfortunately I cannot find a good source so I am using She / Her until I find out otherwise.
