I seriously liked the first half. It definitely became a bit boring afterwards.

There are some very beautifully written segments, but there is also some character behavior that... maybe was normal 200 years ago, but definitely made me disconnect a bit from the story.

I will be reading the revised story, because I've heard great things about it and there is definitely a lot to learn from these.

She is a gifted writer. I want to read more of her stories now.

The terror is almost entirely psychological. I've read this before but had forgotten how well-spoken is the monster. It is a true ego and id story.

Also, I always comment how surprising it is that an English teenage girl from the early 19th-century could write this story, but there is so much nativism (slothful asians, etc) that it is shocking. I didn't notice that before--I guess I've changed.
