the fun parts of the first book were:
a) the heroes/villains
b) the wrong guesses of parents what really happens (and how far the kids have to go for not blowing cover)
c) crazy contraptions
the first things are completely missing from this book. If you read such a book you just know that children won't die (right from the start) so that's nothing to fear. Blowing cover is no danger in this book, since nothing happens on earth. So what dangers do the heroes face here? none.
That makes it to a far less interesting read than the first book. Even worse when both sidekicks are just that, while they had far more characterization and played a far bigger role in the first part.
