It's surprising, in an area with so many kids in it that none of them have read any dystopian fiction and know how these things usually pan out. Not one of them comes up with a plan, not even the bright ones. That aside, this is very readable, and despite a concern that this is going to slide away from SF and into horror, I'll be picking up the second one tomorrow.
