One way to distract myself from impending job interview.

We've had a lot of discussions at home of book v film, and I enjoy the film, but I think of it as an almost completely separate thing. I very much enjoy the book - it is a great readaloud with plenty to get into.

A great readaloud, and a fitting conclusion to the Princess Academy books, although I'd be equally happy to discover another sequel.

These books are published with very cutesie covers, and they're not at all little cute books. There's a lot to dig into and discuss, on politics, sexism and growing up (working from memory here, we've read a few other books since this one). My audience were 9 and 12 and we all enjoyed it.

Another dystopian trilogy, more star crossed lovers. This one is set in a future America, splintered apart by war. More focused on the people and much less on the horrors I very much enjoyed this, although I was almost dissatisfied by the ending.

almost. But not quite.

I loved this. It's wonderful, brutal, heartwarming, disappointing, tapestry of life and death and everything in between.

complicated, complex and important novel. a weaving of fact and fiction, my disappointments are in which parts are made up. No spoilers here though.
