Horror cop

Content warning "Just one evil act" Ending spoiler and just all around spoiling the entire book
Wow, this just was one of the worst books I have ever read. Power-hungry cop takes the law into her own hands, kidnaps a child, and comes out smelling like roses. The tension driver is incredibly contrived—we know whodunnit, whydunnit, and howcatchem, but a journalist is being obtuse and wants to expose the story. And that same story beat is hammered again and again ad nauseam. Complete ex machina ending with the boss who's been on the trail of power-hungry cop revealed to actually been after her colleague whose investigation into the power-hungry cop was an "unlawful investigation" and the powerhungry cop's bribery, extortions, threats, lies, cover-ups, and human trafficking end up under rug swept and here's your medal good job. Clunky repetitive THAD-laden dialogue along with disparaging character descriptions and borderline racism.
