The first half reads like a horny teens fantasy book, don't know if that's the "style" for the series but it felt pretty forced and rushed.

Ignoring those parts the book is interesting although a bit slow and not that robust in terms of story.

This could easily be a pretty good short story, as a book is ok-ish
