we are aphantastic and slow readers, always reading a bunch of books in parallel. we mostly read about anarchism, bread, neurodiversity, sci-fi, and cosy fantasy. our pronouns are it / they (plural). (Avatar: reading fox emoji, from Volpeon's Neofox emoji set)

Melissa Harrison: By Ash, Oak and Thorn (2021, Chicken House, The) No rating

this is so sweet and lovely... this little fops read the first chapters today, while sitting (not so comfily) on a park bench, or more moving around on said park bench, or sometimes not on that park bench at all but rather walking in circles, holding the book in the paws, enjoying to be at a nice place like that with all those trees, wondering about the little creatures that might live inside them...

Becky Chambers: The long way to a small, angry planet (Paperback, 2015, Hodder & Stoughton)

When Rosemary Harper joins the crew of the Wayfarer, she isn't expecting much. The Wayfarer, …

it always takes some time for me to immerge in a book, but these days i had really a lot of fun reading, after finally having remembered the names of all the characters, being attuned to the (to me a bit uncommon) structure, etc.

my ebook reader says ~2h reading time left (i'm at 75% in the book). if i keep up the pace, i might finish reading it after (only) a few days. (i'm still a slow reader, even if i'm enjoying a book.)

i think i'll also consider reading some of the next books in this series, but also have a bunch of other books lined up.

wants to read Schattenspringer by Daniela Schreiter (Schattenspringer, #1)

we're following Fuchskind a while on fedi already, so gotta read her visual books on growing up as Autistic child eventually :3

one of the few German authors on Autism that don't fall into the "Autism Mom" scheme, i.e. the books are actually from the perspective of the kids. Apparently the books can be quite helpful for the kids, relatives, and everyone else in the social circles :3
