I know one quote from the author and it is why I want to read his book: "Indigenous people are post-apocalyptic. In some cases, we have undergone several apocalypses. For my community alone, it was the destruction of the buffalo herds, the destruction of our animal relatives on the land, the destruction of our animal nations in the nineteenth century, of our river homelands in the twentieth century. I don’t want to universalize that experience; it was very unique to us as nations. But if there is something you can learn from Indigenous people, it’s what it’s like to live in a post-apocalyptic society."

hat mir wirklich sehr gut gefallen! und viele dinge, die ich irgendwie nicht so richtig fassen konnte, in so wunderbar klaren, verständlichen worten gesagt, so dass man am ende nur denkt "ja klar, anarchie :)". es hat auch im kontext der pandemie und der unterschiedlichen interpretationen von freiheit total sinn gemacht.

ok so I really liked this book in the beginning, but the authors repeat the main talking points over and over, which was a little tiresome. still, it had a lot of eye-openers and I liked the general direction, idea & tone of it.

I am not a great fan of lumping everything one fights against into one big thing and calling it Empire... I think most thoughts in the book would have gained some clarity if it had called capitalism, racism, patriarchy, etc. by their name.

2021 rausgekommen, über Identität und race und das erfrischenderweise in einem deutschen und nicht us-amerikanischen Kontext. Sehr unterhaltsam und verwirrend und lehrreich.

I don't understand why everyone says this book is so funny. It's a good book but so far I've only laughed once

I liked this A Lot. Got through it in a couple of days because I really empathized with the characters and was keen to see what happened to them. I think the book is based on a very interesting idea. The horror of slavery is described very clearly and I have the impression that I somewhat understood it.

I am reading the German translation published by w_orten&meer and I'm loving it already, esp the preface about positioned writing, translation and reading and the translator's note =)

I can't deal with Mother Theresa being quoted, going to put this aside for a while.

A crime novel that really surprises and intrigues at some points. I like how it uses language to convey the protagonist's state of mind - at some points it reads very convincingly psychedelic. But all the characters other than the protagonist are just roughly sketched. In the end, I learned nothing new from the book and it didn't change my mind on anything... Towards the end, the N-word is used twice.

I don't know if the translation or the original writing was the problem, but I really missed the flow in that one. Even though it has only 76 pages, it took me almost a year to finish because it was so hard for me to concentrate.
